Charter Committee Meets Again On Wednesday

HERE WE GO AGAIN...
The committee created by the Costa Mesa City Council to cobble together a charter for the city will meet again on Wednesday, July 24th, in the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) beginning at 6:00.  Recent meetings have lasted about three hours and are being facilitated by Dr. Kirk Bauermeister, Principal of Estancia High School, and Dr. Mike Decker, Pastor of Palm Harbor Church.  Legal issues are moderated by former City Attorney Kimberly Hall Barlow and Yolanda Summerhill, both of Jones and Mayer. You can read the agenda HERE.

INVOKING A DEITY...
This meeting should be interesting for a couple reasons.  First, the issue brought up by member "Tea Party Tom" Pollitt of having an invocation at the beginning of the meetings continues to percolate.  Playing it semi-safe, this has devolved into a "Moment of Silence", which doesn't seem to have placated Pollitt.  At this meeting the issue has been placed on the agenda and a staff report prepared by Kelly Shelton, Executive Assistant to CEO Tom Hatch, HERE, seems to indicate that a new council policy may be necessary to authorize a "Moment of Solemn Expression" for the committee.

SO MANY TENTACLES...
This is an interesting issue for many reasons.  First, no other committee of which I am aware observes such an event in their meetings.  In fact, no other committee even says the Pledge of Allegiance to the flag - which this committee has done at each meeting so far.  And, the committee members are not unanimous in their views on this subject.  In fact, a couple members have strongly expressed an opinion that such an event violates their own personal beliefs.

AND MORE...
And, one of the facilitators is a pastor, so he's probably squirming as this issue is considered.  And, the agenda item comes AFTER the Moment of Silence this week.  As I said.... interesting.

CONTRACTING TO BE DISCUSSED
The other interesting item on the agenda is Item 9, Public Contracting.  You can read the staff report HERE.  This will be an important discussion since this issue has been one of the cornerstones of Mayor Jim Righeimer's obsession with converting Costa Mesa into a Charter City.  I suspect this will make for a lively discussion as the "sides" on this committee begin to make their views known.

NEXT MEETING NEXT MONTH
The committee will meet next on August 14th.

Isn't gericult that union shill that is the local union pawn that enables union bosses to launder union money in our fine city?

he is a union vehicle of fear, doubt and misinformation.

Is facilitates union energy to divide our city.

Nope....wrong on all counts. Just a local resident , never a union member.
Never laundered any money. Never crafted any message, sowed any fear, or (like you are doing right now), passing along mis-information.

...but I am sick an tired of this GOP led jihad that has bankrupted the city's services for it's residents.

It was stupid then, it's even more stupid now....and we have a diminished service level in this city to show for it, but have wasted millions to politicize it.

It's obvious to all "exactly" who are the "thugs".

Stand Up to Unions, you are so right on! Who in the world needs a living wage in Costa Mesa these days? Who in the world needs to feed their family, pay their rent, get some kind of medical care? The good old USA motto is, Long live the Bottom Line! These union thugs are all scumbag bottom dwellers! If they insist on prevailing wages, they all should go back to their own country and just get out of the USA. Who needs them anyway? They should be thankful that we let them work in this country! Heck, $7.50 an hour is a lot of money, right?

I'll tell you one thing about Gericault. He certainly knows how to spell and construct logical sentences.

"Is facilitates union energy to divide our city." I hope you don't butcher meat the same way you butcher the English language.

And if they don't earn a living wage, they'll be on public subsidies, and you'll vilify them for that, so they really can't win. Stay classy, Stand Up ... and try using that grammar and spellcheck, will you? It's downright pathetic how little sense you make after your first couple of cocktails in the morning. Way to set an example for your team.

Stand Up and/or Proof: your comments are barely intelligible. Want to sober up and try again?

Seriously, should we list all of Riggy and Mensy's campaign contributors and call them his bosses? (Well, okay, in their case, maybe we should). Donations do not a boss make. Grow up. Your attempts at misinformation are no more than what has been displayed before the public. And more and more public is becoming aware of this exact ploy. Keep it up, giving us a forum works for us, not so much you!

Wow, Gericault, I thought you worked for EHS. You're a union shill? Um..does that make Kirk Bauermeister a union boss? Geez, I'd have never known, but it must be since the idiots say its so.

Never worked for EHS either,....just volunteered through the District to help support my kids booster programs and the PTSA.
Signed in and got a sticker like everyone else.

The YES on V page had 600 "likes" from Jakarta,.....but I don't call Mora, Fitzy, or the CM Tax People,..."Indonesian".

I still stand by the workers of this "once" first rate service city,..they aren't the ones I blame for wrecking it.

Gericault: I pretty much disagree with all you say and stand for. but I am tolerant of opposing views and occasionally learn something from your posts, BUT you do put out a LOT of misinformation, don't even try to deny that. it is that misinformation that makes me not believe anything you say on the surface. But when I look into some things, you are absolutely correct at times. Other times, not so much. I see your agenda and how you often twist facts or, even worse, are so clueless on some issues and are so off base it is unbelievable. That is usually the case on anyone suspected of being a righeimer friend, you don't see any of them as individuals who have their own thoughts, just automatically puppets if they agree with him even 50%. You should meet the people you put down, you would be surprised.

Did "Repair Costa Mesa" take Union Money?

Yes or No?

And folks, do we think the union bosses will sit on the sidelines for this? No, they are not

@ Perfectly nobody......anything specific, or were you just targeting me with a general gelatinous smear?.....politely delivered though.
Funny how no one ever calls Righeimer out for claiming we had a $26 million dollar deficit on Fox News when we actually ended up with a $1.2 million budget surplus.....by my estimation , I can be off by $26.1 million and still be more accurate than Righeimer.

Specifically, and more importantly,...who have I put down?
and ...where? I freely admit that I am extremely critical of this Councils policies and actions. If just one little bit of my criticism affects and constructs some restraint or pause in how these politicians are running our city, then I consider that time well spent.

No...the personal attacks usually are directed towards me, after I deftly expose the hypocrisy displayed daily in our city.
That is mainly done to deflect the point I was trying to make.....

which brings us full circle..

And the Big Lie rears its ugly head and resurfaces!
The man of multiple online personalities brought it back. He's even using CAPS now.
Is that ALL you Baugh followers have?
Do you have ANY idea how sick and tired people are of hearing this repetitive nonsense (lies) over and over?
It just shows us how damn desperate you are.
You have NOTHING- resurrecting the Big Lie proves this.
Hell, Mora couldn't even answer a simple question when he commented on Charles article in the DP. He just bashed CM4RG, said NOTHING about what Charles wrote and repeated Terri's name when she asked him a direct question. - Very weak, all of you!
btw, Answer this- how much did the OC GOP contribute to Riggy's, the 'Yes on V' and the Three Ms campaigns?

To 'check your sixes',
You have accurately described the thought process the Baugh bots use and their line of reasoning. I know exactly what it reminds me of, also.
The reasoning is as follows,
Someone who is in a union, donates to a candidate/cause. Therefore, said candidate/cause is a union shill/front and everyone associated with him/her/it is a union thug. Sound about right?
This is exactly the hysterical line of reasoning used in the infamous trials of the House of Unamerican Activites under Joseph McCarthy, the catalyst of these witchhunts.
Heck, man of multiple online personalities called one of our esteemed Costa Mesa residents a " Commie pinko" last week, his exact words.
OC GOP led jihad? You bet!
Their boogie man word?- Unions!
They're not even trying to hide the fact that they are a modern day Joe McCarthy squad, same lies, same false allegations!
We all know what happened to their predecessors- they seem to have forgotten history.
We need to call them out for who they are- extremists, fear mongering liars who have no ones better interest at heart than their own.

Ladies and Gentlemen, you have the Proof now! One of their very own, yes, a pet of the GOP fringe faction admits that the “OC GOP jihad is delusional at best”. Congratulations Proof, that took courage, it is the first step to recovery.

They don't speak for the whole GOP, just for a few power hungry, hypocritical, self-serving individuals who have managed to pull the wool over a few sheep’s eyes. They cannot continue this brand of crony politics and succeed. Take your jihad somewhere else, boys, we are soooo tired of your takeover attempts.

Moorlach gets the same pension as the sheriffs he sued. Ha ha ha!
Jim’s crazy outsource scheme cost the City millions and the GOP a few formerly loyal members!
They call themselves conservative; yet spend taxpayer money like drunken democrats.
Their idea of local control is to get more power to control the locals.

This weekend I networked with a few friends trying to assess the damage the Oc-Gop jihadists did to the party. Too late, after the last election quite a few already re- registered Decline To State. The baugh baugh baugh sheep are scattering.

Righeimer still has support within the Lincoln Club, but many of us see him and Baugh for what they are. Reagan's Rule no longer applies. Now is the time for true Republicans to step forward. With all due respect to the likes of Foley and Ridge, you're still the minority in Costa Mesa. We just need to do some deep house cleaning. Unfortunately this includes Mensinger as well.

It is truly laughable when anti-council, anti-charter lemmings talk about GOP influence and outside campaign donations.

The out-of-town unions spent an unprecedented amount of money, well over a half million ($500,000) on the No on V campaign, sent speakers from all over the state to comment at our council meetings and flooded Costa Mesa with out-of-town union members going door to door before election day.

We're not idiots. You ARE hypocrites.

And Gericault, you really should own up to the misinformation campaign you headed through Repair Costa Mesa. You were the public face of RCM, which was repeatedly exposed as a union-funded false information outlet masquerading as a "grass-roots" organization.

People in glass houses should not throw stones.

@ glASS House--what/who is the "out of town unions"? You throw those words around like you just read the anti-union playbook. You're just sour that a bad idea(the charter) got blown out of the water by the voting public and they saw that charter for what it really was- a pile of crap that Riggy stole from surrounding Cities and thought nobody would catch on to his game.
